New Delhi, Oct. 18 – At the NDTV World Summit in Delhi, a Harvard Business School professor said India is at a turning point, especially as new education reforms roll out.
Prof. Tarun Khanna, the Jorge Paulo Lemann Professor at Harvard, highlighted how technology, education and government policy collide. He said the country can use Artificial Intelligence – or AI – to boost learning and job creation.
“I’m just starting to understand how AI can change schools and jobs,” he told . “We need to figure out which skills AI can handle and where human talent still shines.”
According to Prof. Khanna, AI is talked about a lot, but the real gains haven’t shown up on the ground yet. “We still haven’t seen the money‑making side of AI in a big way,” he said. “If we plan the rollout properly, it could open fresh opportunities for our youth.”
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks at the summit, the professor praised the leader’s clear‑cut goals. “PM Modi is decisive,” Khanna said. “His vision for India benefits the country and the world.” He added that the Prime Minister’s Office, especially for education initiatives, shows a focused, action‑based style of governance.
Khanna also commented on the government’s new three‑language policy. “I’m not fully briefed on the details,” he admitted, “but I welcome any program that exposes students to more languages.” He added, “If it broadens linguistic reach, it’s a good move.”
He called this era “exciting” for India’s social and economic growth. Many overseas educators and institutions now look to India as a place of rapid change.
