Anhad India, a leading rural healthcare program run by the Karma Healthcare Trust, just opened its first paramedic-assisted telemedicine center in Bihar. The new spot in Bajitpur village aims to bring better healthcare access to people in remote areas. Bihar’s Minister for Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Vijay Kumar Choudhary, cut the ribbon during the launch, with local leaders and partners on hand. Swiss Re Foundation backed the project, showing their push for sustainable health solutions in underserved spots.

For years, Anhad India has tackled the big gaps in rural healthcare across India. They now run about 60 tech-powered centers in 11 states and union territories. These spots offer everything from doctor visits and tests to medicines and follow-up care—all in one place. The goal? Make healthcare continuous, raise awareness on prevention, and connect folks directly to expert doctors. So far, they’ve helped nearly 200,000 patients, thanks to partners like Hyundai Motor India Foundation, Ray of Hope International Foundation, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, and Innovators in Health.

Bihar has made progress in health stats, but challenges remain huge. The state has just one doctor for every 2,148 people—way below the World Health Organization’s recommended 1:1,000 ratio. Many primary health centers don’t run 24/7, and families pay out-of-pocket for about 77.6% of their health costs. That’s why Anhad India’s move into Bihar feels right on time. It fits with the state’s focus on comprehensive primary healthcare, or CPHC.

At the Bajitpur center, people can get general check-ups, specialist talks via video, screenings for issues like diabetes and hypertension, eye care, and more. It goes beyond fixing problems—there’s a big push on preventing illness, promoting healthy habits, and involving the community. Through Anhad India’s nationwide network of doctors, rural folks in Bihar now access affordable, top-notch telemedicine consultations without traveling far.

Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary praised the setup: “This center will truly help Bihar’s people, especially women and families in villages. It delivers specialist advice, medicines, tests, and follow-ups at low costs. With telemedicine, no more long trips to cities—patients save time and money while getting care right at home.”

Esha Kalra, Senior Partnership Lead at Anhad India, added: “Our proven model of paramedic-assisted telemedicine reaches even the farthest communities. Launching our first center in Bihar lets us back the state’s CPHC goals and deliver people-focused care where it’s needed most.”

This Bihar expansion highlights Anhad India’s dedication to fair growth and lasting change. They’re calling on more partners to grow their tech-driven, community-first approach to rural healthcare in India.

Anhad India is an award-winning nonprofit under Karma Healthcare Trust, focused on equitable, tech-integrated health services for rural areas. Over the past decade, they’ve expanded to 10 states and union territories without losing impact. Their centers have reached around 2.4 million people, cut out-of-pocket costs by about ₹31 crore, and saved roughly 3.1 million kilometers in travel. More than half the patients are women. By teaming up with communities, governments, and companies like Hyundai Motor India Foundation and Swiss Re Foundation, Anhad India keeps empowering those who need it most.
