Apple is gearing up for its biggest festive sales ever in India, with experts predicting a whopping 28% jump in revenue next year. This surge comes thanks to the hot start from the new iPhone 17 series, which is already flying off shelves during the holiday rush.

Research firm Counterpoint says Apple’s aggressive push during the festive season is driving record growth. The iPhone 17 lineup is outperforming its predecessor, the iPhone 16, right from the get-go. In fact, sales in the first week alone beat the iPhone 16 by 19%.

“Apple is smartly riding the wave of premiumization in India,” notes Tarun Pathak, Research Director at Counterpoint. Shoppers are snapping up the Pro and Pro Max models the fastest, leading to stockouts in stores and online. The eye-catching Cosmic Orange color is a big hit, he adds.

What’s boosting appeal? Apple upgraded the base iPhone 17 to 256GB storage, paired with cashback deals and easy 24-month EMI options. That makes it feel like a steal for high-end buyers. Even the pricier iPhone 17 Air is pulling in more interest than last year’s Plus model, despite the extra cost.

Demand is so strong that it’s outstripping supply, leaving retailers scrambling to stock up—especially on those Pro versions.

Prabhu Ram, Vice President at CMR’s Industry Research Group, agrees the momentum is building. “Apple could ship over 4.5 million iPhones this festive quarter,” he says. The iPhone 17 Air is sparking fresh excitement, and pre-bookings are already topping last year’s numbers, setting the stage for a strong run through Diwali.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 17 series on September 9, packing in upgrades like the Centre Stage front camera for sharper video calls. The rear setup shines with a 48MP Fusion main camera, a 2x optical telephoto lens, and a new 48MP ultra-wide shooter that nails wide shots and tiny macro details.

The display steps up to a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR screen with ProMotion tech for smoother scrolling and brighter visuals. Apple boasts the new Ceramic Shield 2 front cover is tougher than ever—three times more scratch-resistant than before—with less glare too. Under the hood, the A19 chip delivers top-notch speed and battery life to keep things running smoothly.
