On Saturday, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar marked a milestone in Munger’s development by laying the foundation stone for a new Mother Dairy plant in Jamalpur, inside the 15‑acre campus of the state’s dairy unit.
The plant, worth ₹250 crore, will create 250 jobs right away and bring fresh milk collection to nearby villages. Milk will be chilled on‑site, with the first day’s capacity set at 100,000 litres a day and expected to grow to 200,000 litres soon.
Alongside the dairy launch, Kumar rolled out a ₹12,000‑crore investment package for Munger and surrounding areas, promising better roads, a new Ganga Pathway from Munger to Bhagalpur, and a ring road in Tarapur. He also highlighted the Haldia Expressway, renewal of Rishikund’s link, beautification of Kashtharanini Ghat, and upgraded tourist access to Bhim Dam.
The chief minister stressed jobs for Bihar’s young people, aiming to place 10 million at work over the next five years. He noted that 1 million young Biharis already have government jobs and that 4 million have found work under the NDA government.
Women’s empowerment efforts also received a boost. The new Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana gives every household a woman ₹10 000, with the chance to earn up to ₹2 lakh if her business succeeds. High‑income senior citizens now get ₹1,100 in monthly pension, up from ₹400, and each home receives 125 units of free electricity.
Kumar also started a 2.09 billion‑rupee mustard‑seed processing scheme in Munger. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary hailed the project as evidence of Bihar’s move toward prosperity and thanked the government for opening new opportunities, including contracts with Mother Dairy and Coca‑Cola.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh praised Nitish Kumar’s focus on real development. He said earlier governments did little for Munger, but the current NDA coalition has brought the rule of law, improved infrastructure and public welfare, sparking historic projects across the district.
