On Oct. 7 in New Delhi, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. took home the Mahatma Award 2025 for CSR Excellence in Waste and Material Productivity. The award, the highest honor in social impact, was presented to only 90 winners out of more than 2,100 entries this year.
The ceremony featured Dr. Kiran Bedi, the former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and India’s first woman IPS officer, as the chief guest, and Mr. A. Annamalai, director of the National Gandhi Museum, as a guest of honor. The award, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principles, recognises organisations that drive real, positive change.
“Winning the Mahatma Award is a great honour for Bisleri and for everyone who has supported our sustainability journey,” said CEO Angelo George. “We are committed to responsible choices and to advancing the circular economy through our Bisleri Greener Promise. This award belongs to our whole team and to the communities that inspire us to build a greener India.”
Bisleri earned the prize for its flagship program, the Bisleri Greener Promise. The initiative promotes plastic circularity, water conservation, waste segregation and responsible recycling. By working with housing societies, schools, corporates and civic authorities across India, the program encourages responsible consumption and sparks innovation for a more sustainable future.
With a 50‑year legacy, Bisleri International is one of India’s largest premium beverage producers. Its flagship product—Bisleri packaged drinking water—is the country’s best‑selling bottled water brand. The company follows a rigorous 114‑step quality test and a 10‑stage purification process to deliver pure, safe water.
Bisleri’s operations spread across 128 plants and a distribution network that includes more than 6,000 distributors, 7,500 trucks, and a presence in both India and the UAE. The brand offers a full range of beverages, from bottled water to carbonated drinks like Bisleri Limonata, Bisleri Rev, and Bisleri Soda, many of which are available on the Bisleri@Doorstep e‑commerce platform.
“Growth and sustainability go hand in hand at Bisleri,” said George. “Our new Sustainability 2.0 plan focuses on recycling, water conservation and broader environmental stewardship through the Greener Promise.”
