NIA searches key suspect’s Rohtak house in CPI (Maoist) NRB revival case

New Delhi – Dec 9 (LatestNewsX) – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a raid on a rented flat in Rohtak, Haryana, on Tuesday. The move was part of an operation targeting the CPI (Maoist) gang’s attempt to re‑establish a foothold in the Northern Region Bureau (NRB).
At the residence of the suspect identified as “Naresh”, the NIA team seized two mobile phones and several handwritten notes. The agency said that Naresh had been a former member of Chhatra Ekta Manch (CEM) and served closely with accused “Priyanshu Kashyap” in the case recorded as RC‑01/2023/NIA/LKW. According to investigators, Kashyap regularly used the flat to hold secret meetings with the organization’s underground cadre.
The agency warned that the terrorist group is intentionally working to revive its influence across the NRB states – Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Work on this file is still in progress.
Earlier this month, the NIA filed charges against another suspect in a related matter. “Vishal Singh alias Suraj” from Mathura (UP) has been charged under section 121A of the IPC and also under sections 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He is the second accused to be charged in RC‑01/2023/NIA‑LKW.
In February, the agency had formalized charges against “Ajay Singhal alias Aman” for his role in a concerted attempt by CPI (Maoist) leaders, cadres and sympathisers, including Over‑Ground Workers (OGWs), to bolster the group in the NRB states.
Investigations also revealed that CPI (Maoist) member Vij Singh spent ten days in the Chhakarbandha/Pachrukhiya forest area training cadres on drone operation. He also met senior CPI (Maoist) leaders “Pramod Mishra alias Sohan Da” and “Sandeep Yadav alias Rupesh Ji”, a CC member of the Bihar–Jharkhand Special Area Committee (BJSAC) of CPI (Maoist).
