The Indian government said on Friday that domestic airlines must keep safety standards high and focus more on giving passengers a better experience. Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu led a monthly meeting with the main carriers—Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Alliance Air, Fly91, FlyBig, and IndiaOne Air—to review how they’re doing in safety and service.
At the meeting each airline handed over its performance data, including how it handled security incidents and passenger complaints. The discussion touched on safety checks, fleet maintenance, and ways to make travel smoother for travelers. The minister urged airlines to spot bottlenecks in their operations and solve them quickly.
Naidu also warned that airfares should stay affordable as the festival season approaches. In turn, airlines pledged to put passenger convenience first and announced extra flights on busy routes to meet demand.
The DGCA’s tariff monitoring unit was told to keep a close eye on ticket prices and make sure airlines stay within their announced fare ranges. The minister went over how airlines have addressed complaints and told them to resolve issues quickly and in a better way.
India’s passenger‑complaint portal, AirSewa, has been upgraded so travelers can register complaints about high fares more easily. Naidu encouraged airlines to incorporate the Prime Minister’s Clean India (Swachh Bharat) vision into their daily operations and service.
He praised the carriers for working together to make Indian aviation greener by adopting advanced, environmentally friendly technology.
