Biocon’s chief, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, praised Karnataka’s Congress government on Sunday for speeding up the Ejipura Flyover project in Bengaluru.
The flyover, a key upgrade on the Koramangala–Ejipura route, has been under discussion for 10 years. Mazumdar Shaw said the previous BJP‑JD(S) governments did not make it a priority, but the new administration is pushing it through.
On X (formerly Twitter) she wrote, “The project has been in the making for past 10 years, which the previous BJP and JD(S) governments didn’t prioritise.” She added that the new route will help clear the daily traffic crunch in the area.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar shared photos of the flyover’s construction site and promised the work would finish by June 2026. “Full‑scale work has commenced,” he said. “This elevated corridor is designed to ease traffic congestion along the Koramangala–Ejipura stretch.”
Mazumdar Shaw called that a “positive development” and noted that putting the project on a priority track was the right move.
The two leaders had a friendly online exchange earlier this month. Shaw had criticised the state’s road conditions, saying a foreign business visitor had asked, “Why are the roads so bad and why is there so much garbage around?” Shivakumar responded that if she wants to improve the roads, they will support her efforts.
The Ejipura Flyover is expected to reduce traffic jams and make Bengaluru’s streets smoother for commuters and businesses alike.
