Mumbai, 7 Nov – Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told about 20 000 farmers at the Global Vikas Trust event in Sirsala, Maharashtra, that every rupee of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PM Fasal Bima) will reach the farmers who are owed it. “If we need to, we’ll talk directly with the farmers to make sure every single rupee of their rightful claim arrives,” he said.

Chouhan praised farmers as the country’s “Annadaata” – providers of life. He added that, under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, scientists are now visiting fields, not just staying in labs, so new agricultural research can hit the grassroots level.

During a face‑to‑face session, farmers shared stories of success with silk farming, natural farming methods and water‑conservation practices. “Our goal is to boost farmers’ income so none of them feel compelled to take tragic steps like suicide,” Chouhan reminded.

The minister highlighted the government’s pledge to supply high‑quality seeds to every farmer, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He noted that erratic weather, especially heavy rains, damaged crops in many regions this year, threatening farmers’ livelihoods. “Both the Centre and state governments are on high alert and ready to provide timely help to every affected farmer,” he assured.

Chouhan announced immediate crop‑loss compensation from the state and extra financial aid via the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). He urged farmers to adopt integrated farming, blending agriculture with allied activities such as beekeeping, fisheries and animal husbandry. “Small farms can greatly boost income by adding these sectors,” he said.

The minister warned of strict action against fake fertilizers, seeds and pesticides. A new bill targeting those producing and selling these substances will be introduced in the next Budget Session.

The farmer‑centric message was clear: the government will keep promises, address crop losses, ensure quality seeds, and fight counterfeit agricultural inputs.
