On Friday, the Panchayati Raj Ministry began showing a two‑minute public‑service film in cinemas across India. The short doc‑short, part of the “People’s Plan Campaign – Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas,” runs from today until November 6. It’s meant to spark more people to join village‑level planning and boost ground‑level development.
The film mixes footage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking to crowds and engaging women leaders. It also highlights central schemes on health, solar power and education, stressing that every citizen can shape local progress. Viewers will see it before the featured movie and again during the final five minutes of the break.
The campaign, launched on October 2, directs panchayats to draft inclusive, evidence‑based plans for the 2026‑27 fiscal year. Since 2018, the program has grown into a flagship movement that deepens grassroots democracy and strengthens self‑governance. According to the eGramSwaraj portal, more than 18.13 lakh Panchayat Development Plans–from village to district level–have been uploaded since 2019‑20, including 2.52 lakh plans for the current cycle.
Screening the film nationwide aims to sharpen citizen engagement with local bodies and inspire active participation in rural development, the ministry said. The move comes amid a national push for “janbhagidari,” or public participation, across government schemes.
