Mrunal Thakur feels ‘surreal’ after seeing her friend Siddhant Chaturvedi as V. Shantaram
On December 5 in Mumbai, actress Mrunal Thakur could barely keep her excitement in check after her co‑star from Do Deewane Seher Mein, Siddhant Chaturvedi, was revealed to portray legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram in a forthcoming biopic. She shared the first look on Instagram Stories, noting that Shantaram has inspired generations of filmmakers—including herself—and that seeing Siddhant bring the icon to life feels both surreal and profoundly special. In her caption she added, “V. Shantaram has inspired generations with his vision, and I’m one of them. To see his life brought alive on screen and that too by my friend feels surreal and so so special (sic).” She also teased, “@siddhantchaturvedi SUPER EXCITED! Make us proud.”
Siddhant recently remarked that every artist hopes for a story that tests their “truth, heart, & hunger,” and for him that story is V. Shantaram. He posted stills of himself as the legendary filmmaker on Instagram, thanking fans for the outpouring of love following the poster’s debut and saying the timing is perfect to revisit a tale of rebellion that shaped the glory of Indian cinema. Calling the role a “dream role,” he wrote, “From a boy who dreamt silently in frames, to standing in the shadow of a legend… AnnaSaheb – V. Shantaram. Every artist waits for that one story that tests your truth, your heart, and your hunger. This is mine.”
The film, written and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, will be produced by Rajkamal Entertainment, Camera Take Films and Roaring Rivers Productions, with Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhash Kale and Sarita Ashwin Varde attached as producers.
