Goldman Sachs is expanding its 10,000 Women initiative in India by teaming up with two top business schools: the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and the IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre. These new partners will join the existing collaborator, IIM Bangalore’s NSRCEL, to equip women entrepreneurs with essential business skills, networking, and funding access.
The program, which boosts economic growth worldwide by supporting female-led businesses, now targets graduating 1,000 women entrepreneurs in India over the next year. It plans to scale from its current 3,800 participants to a full 10,000 by 2033.
Sonjoy Chatterjee, Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs in India, shared his excitement: “We’re doubling our commitment to women entrepreneurs here. By partnering with India’s premier business schools, we’ll deliver top-notch education, mentorship, and networks. These women will drive India’s growth story.”
This move aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision for a developed nation by unlocking women’s potential in business. It tackles key challenges like limited access to capital and professional connections.
Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, highlighted the impact: “This partnership breaks down barriers for women entrepreneurs. Our academic strengths, combined with the program’s global reach, will build a thriving ecosystem. We’ll foster innovation, spur growth, and help women scale their ventures to lead the Indian economy.”
Goldman Sachs’ India Womenomics research points out India’s bright future thanks to its young population. But to seize it, the country must boost women’s job participation, which lags behind other major economies.
Professor MP Gupta, Director of IIM Lucknow, added: “Boosting women entrepreneurs creates a ripple effect that inspires generations. Our tie-up with Goldman Sachs will tear down obstacles, build supportive networks, and let women-led businesses grow, scale, and lead change in society and the economy.”
The 10,000 Women program delivers real results in India. Graduates typically quadruple their revenues and double their teams soon after finishing. Overall, they’ve sparked over 12,000 new jobs and added billions of rupees to the economy. Most adapt quickly to challenges, and nine in ten mentor other women while hiring more female talent.
