On Wednesday, December 10, Google rolled out its new subscription service, Google AI Plus, in India, giving users broader access to the company’s most recent AI models, multimedia tools and additional perks.
In a statement, the firm highlighted the package’s benefits: “From expanded access to Gemini 3 Pro in the Gemini app, to enhanced image and video generation tools like Nano Banana Pro and Flow, the plan unlocks advanced capabilities to boost creativity and productivity.”
The plan also weaves Gemini into everyday applications such as Gmail and Google Docs, adds extra storage, and offers family‑sharing benefits. It extends access to NotebookLM for deeper research and analysis.
Subscribers can enjoy 200 GB of storage across Photos, Drive and Gmail, share the benefits with up to five family members, and gain what Google describes as an affordable route to high‑level AI tools.
Pricing starts at ₹399 per month, with a special introductory rate of ₹199 for the first six months for new sign‑ups.
An additional note from the company: “It opens up access to powerful AI tools to level up your productivity and creativity — all at an accessible price.”
Earlier this year, Google outlined a safety‑first roadmap for India, prioritising children, teenagers and older adults in its AI protection strategy. It unveiled on‑device real‑time anti‑scam features, text watermarking and digital‑literacy programmes to make AI safer and more inclusive.
The “Scam Detection” tool, powered by Gemini Nano, will be available on Pixel phones to analyse calls in real‑time, flag potential scams entirely on‑device—without recording audio, creating transcripts or sharing data with Google. The feature is off by default, only applies to calls from unknown numbers (not saved contacts), emits a beep to alert participants, and can be toggled off by the user.
