Gujarat Court Targets YouTuber Abhisar Sharma and Blogger Raju Parulekar Over Defamatory Claims Against Adani Group

A court in Gujarat has taken action against YouTuber Abhisar Sharma and blogger Raju Parulekar for allegedly spreading false information to damage the Adani Group’s reputation. The Judicial Magistrate First Class in Gandhinagar issued notices to both, asking them to appear in court on September 20.

Adani Group’s lawyer Sanjay Thakkar shared that the court wants the accused to explain their side before any case moves forward. If the complaints get accepted, Sharma and Parulekar could face up to two years in jail, fines, or both under the law.

The notices come under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which gives the accused a chance to be heard before the court takes cognizance of the offence. Thakkar explained that they must show up in person or send a lawyer on that date.

Sharma uploaded a controversial YouTube video on August 18, 2025, claiming the Adani Group got thousands of bighas of land in Assam through political favors. Parulekar, on the other hand, posted similar accusations on X (formerly Twitter) since January 2025, talking about land grabs, scams, and unfair benefits for the company.

Adani Group calls these allegations "baseless and misleading." They point out that a Gauhati High Court order from August 12, 2025—which the posts referenced—doesn’t mention the Adani Group at all. The company also clarified that Mahabal Cement Pvt Ltd, involved in that court case, has zero links to Adani.

To back their claims, Adani submitted evidence like Sharma’s video and its transcript, Parulekar’s tweets and retweets, the High Court order, and other records to the Gandhinagar court near Adalaj police station.

This case highlights the growing scrutiny on social media influencers and the legal battles over defamation against big businesses like the Adani Group. We’ll keep you updated as the September 20 hearing approaches.
