Hong Kong’s biggest cycling bash, the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, is gearing up for its big return on November 30. Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), this annual highlight draws cyclists from around the world to pedal through the city’s stunning urban landscapes. With fresh routes and upgraded fun for everyone, spots are filling fast—registrations kicked off on September 13 and wrap up on September 20, so grab one of the 6,000 available slots if you’re a local, from the Mainland, or overseas.
HKTB Chairman Dr. Peter Lam couldn’t be more excited. “Hong Kong has nailed hosting major global sports events lately, boosting our spot on the world stage,” he said. “The Cyclothon stands out by mixing thrilling competition with tourism vibes. We’re all about getting everyone involved, especially with the fan-favorite 50km ride that zips through four tunnels and three bridges. The 32km option hits two tunnels and two bridges too, and this year it launches the World University Trophy, pulling in riders from top universities in Hong Kong, the Mainland, and beyond—including some from the global top 100.”
For elite racers, the City Cycling Challenge around Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) – Sun Hung Kai Properties Men and Women Open shakes things up with tougher, extended routes. Men tackle a 30km single lap across four districts, weaving through two tunnels and two bridges like Cheung Ching Tunnel, Ting Kau Bridge, Nam Wan Tunnel, and Stonecutters Bridge, complete with epic views from Tsing Ma Bridge. Women race an 8km loop along West Kowloon Highway from Salisbury Road, cruising past icons like the Clock Tower, Hong Kong Space Museum, ICC, Xiqu Centre, and the Hong Kong Palace Museum. It’s a perfect blend of speed and city sightseeing.
Families and celebs get in on the action with the Family Fun Ride and CEO Charity and Celebrity Ride, teaming up for the first time on a scenic new waterfront path in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Expect cheering zones for fans, plus kid-friendly challenges for parents and little ones to bond over. All proceeds go to charity—100% of registration fees support The Community Chest of Hong Kong, with extra donations from Sun Hung Kai Properties to help those in need.
Non-competitive rides keep it accessible: the 50km path covers Cheung Ching, Nam Wan, Eagle’s Nest, and Sha Tin Heights Tunnels, plus Tsing Ma, Ting Kau, and Stonecutters Bridges. The 32km route sticks to Cheung Ching and Nam Wan Tunnels, Ting Kau and Stonecutters Bridges. It’s your chance to push your limits on Hong Kong’s major roads, surrounded by iconic skyline views. The World University Trophy on the 32km adds a cool twist of sport, travel, and cultural vibes for student cyclists.
The fun doesn’t stop at the rides. Head to the West Kowloon Cultural District Art Park for the Cyclothon Carnival, packed with music, sports demos, food stalls, gear markets, interactive new sports, face painting, balloon workshops, and more. Families and thrill-seekers of all ages will love it. Catch the races live on a giant screen, so you won’t miss a pedal.
Performances light up the day: Start with Bike & Brew from 6:30am to 11am, featuring pro cyclist talks, rhythmic gymnastics, and bike stunts. Midday Motion (11am-3pm) brings cheerleaders, breakdancers, Zumba, and jump rope action. Wind down with Relaxing Sunset from 3pm-6pm, highlighted by the Hong Kong A Cappella Academy and street band The Flame.

The HKTB keeps pushing Hong Kong as a top travel spot, blending events like this with tourism to boost the local economy and visitor joy. Looking ahead, they plan to grow the Cyclothon across the Greater Bay Area, teaming up with neighbors for a killer regional brand.
