India, EU discuss Comprehensive Framework of Cooperation on Mobility

India and the European Union concluded the 9th High‑Level Dialogue on Migration and Mobility in New Delhi on Wednesday, celebrating progress on their joint agenda for migration and mobility. The meeting reaffirmed how vital people‑to‑people flows are to the India‑EU strategic partnership.
During the talks, officials discussed the Comprehensive Framework of Cooperation on Mobility and the EU’s plan to launch a pilot “European Legal Gateway Office” in India. This one‑stop hub will offer information and help professionals—especially in the ICT sector—move smoothly to the EU, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
Both sides said they were pleased with how well the India‑EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility (CAMM) has been implemented. They also highlighted steps to turn the plans in the Joint Communication on “A New Strategic India‑EU Agenda” into action, a council that adopted in September 2025.
The dialogue was co‑chaired by Prashant Pise, India’s Additional Secretary for Emigration, and Johannes Luchner, the EU’s Deputy Director‑General for Migration. The participants agreed to schedule the next High‑Level Dialogue in Belgium at a mutually convenient date.
Representatives from EU member states, as well as officials from India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development, Commerce, Labour and Education, and the Indian Council of World Affairs, attended. The event also marked the collaborative efforts around the upcoming G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
Earlier, on November 13, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas in Niagara, Canada, to deepen the India‑EU Strategic Partnership and discuss the G7 agenda. Jaishankar shared his thoughts on the meeting on X.
India and the EU look forward to a stronger partnership that helps professionals move between the two regions, boosts trade, and deepens cooperation on migration.
