India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has just teamed up with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to offer pensioners a new, hassle‑free way to get their Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) right at home. The partnership, announced on Monday, will let EPFO members use the bank’s network of post offices and postal workers to submit the certificates without ever needing to travel to a bank or an EPFO office.
Thanks to IPPB’s wide reach—over 165,000 post offices and more than 300,000 “Gramin Dak Sevaks” (postal workers)—the service will be available across India, especially in rural and semi‑urban areas. The system uses advanced door‑step banking devices that combine facial recognition and fingerprint scans, making the submission process quick and secure. EPFO will cover the full cost of issuing the DLCs, so pensioners receive the certificate free of charge.
“Through this partnership we reinforce IPPB’s goal of bringing essential financial and citizen services to every doorstep,” said R. Viswesvaran, MD and CEO of IPPB. “Our technology‑enabled postal network will help pensioners complete their life certificate applications with dignity and ease.”
The digital life certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, has been part of India Post Payments Bank’s doorstep service since 2020. After the certificate is generated, pensioners receive a confirmation SMS and can view the certificate online the next day.
This initiative supports India’s “Digital India” and “Ease of Living” agendas, ensuring inclusive service delivery for senior citizens and pensioners through reliable post infrastructure and digital technology.
