Indian deep‑tech firm Tidal Wave Technologies and critical‑communications provider Consort Digital have shown that 5G can power mission‑critical networks in the real world. In a live demo on Monday, the two companies ran a private 5G network at the Amlohri Coal Mine, run by Northern Coalfields Limited, a part of state‑owned Coal India.
The pilot was the first in India to prove a 5G‑based mission‑critical (MCX) system on site. Private 5G managed by Tidal Wave, combined with Consort Digital’s MCX ONE platform, connected drones, cameras and environmental sensors from several manufacturers. The test proved the system can scale, mix with existing equipment, and keep reliable, secure links even in tough mining conditions.
“People in mining, public safety and utilities need fail‑proof connectivity that works when it matters most,” said Consort Digital’s technical director Sarabjeet Bhasin. “This demo shows our technology is ready for real‑world deployments and paves the way for moving from narrowband (TETRA) to true broadband 5G.”
Tidal Wave CEO Ankit Dixit added, “Amlohri proved that a private 5G network can give the resilience, speed and security that mission‑critical missions demand.”
With critical sectors shifting from narrowband to broadband, the partnership plans to build new, industry‑ready solutions for transport, utilities, mining, public safety and enterprises. This milestone marks a significant step for India’s mission‑critical communications ecosystem, ensuring safer, faster connections for the country’s most demanding operations.
