New Delhi, Oct. 17 – At the NDTV World Summit 2025, Vedanta Group founder and chairman Anil Agarwal told reporters that India’s future depends on its own resources and talent.
“Today nothing changes without India’s presence,” Agarwal said, underscoring the country’s growing role in global mining and energy. He reminded the audience that progress starts “below the ground,” where India’s rich deposits of copper, silver, gold and diamonds lie.
In the session titled “Building Bharat: Purpose, Profit, Planet,” Agarwal highlighted Vedanta’s contribution to the nation’s mining output. The company now supplies about half of India’s silver demand, and he urged larger firms to join together in a shared mission to push the country forward.
“I am proud that Indians can produce the very materials the world needs,” he said. “We don’t have to rely on imports for gas, copper or silver. We can deliver it all here.”
Agarwal also spoke about opportunities for young people. He said India’s youth are now “bubbling” with ambition, ready to build careers at home instead of going abroad. “Indian boys are dreaming of working in their own country,” he added, expressing hope that the next generation will drive India’s growth.
The chairman also walked listeners back to his early days. Born in Bihar with no plane ticket or double‑decker bus experience, he recalled his wish to do something substantial. “I grew up carrying ideas, not riches,” he said.
The two‑day NDTV World Summit will wrap up tomorrow, Oct. 18. Agarwal’s remarks reinforce a key theme: India’s mineral wealth and its dynamic young workforce are the country’s most powerful assets for the future.
