Prime Minister Narendra Modi is about to launch a major upgrade for India’s telecom world. On Saturday, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that Modi will inaugurate the country’s fully indigenous 4G stack and more than 97,500 Swadeshi BSNL towers. This move aims to deliver 100% 4G coverage across the nation, making digital connectivity a reality for every Indian.

Scindia shared the exciting news on X, calling it a “landmark moment” for India’s telecom sector. The launch celebrates 25 years of BSNL and will roll out in key states like Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, and Bihar. “This represents a giant leap towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, positioning India as a global leader in telecommunications,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s Office echoed the enthusiasm on X, highlighting the swadeshi spirit in BSNL’s 4G stack. Already, over 92,000 sites connect 22 million Indians, boosting employment, exports, and fiscal growth while pushing the vision of self-reliant India.

Modi heads to Jharsuguda in Odisha for the big event. There, he’ll lay the foundation stone and kick off development projects worth over Rs 60,000 crore. These cover telecom, railways, higher education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing. Expect Modi to speak directly to the public too.

Scindia credited Modi’s self-reliant push for making this happen fast—India built its own 4G stack in just 22 months. “This shows we’re not just providing services but developing cutting-edge technology, racing towards global telecom leadership,” the minister said. He called it a “new era” where India joins the ranks of Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China as the fifth nation producing its own telecom equipment.

Adding to the momentum, Modi will unveil India’s 100% 4G network under the Digital India Fund. This mission-mode project will link around 29,000 to 30,000 villages, bridging the digital divide in rural areas.

Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal pointed out India’s spot as the world’s largest telecom market. He predicts 5G users will jump from 300-400 million now to 770 million by 2028, all thanks to Modi’s forward-thinking policies. This indigenous 4G push is fueling that growth, turning India into a telecom powerhouse.
