IndiGo and AEGEAN sign memorandum of understanding for codeshare partnership

IndiGo Teams Up with Greece’s AEGEAN Airlines for New Codeshare Partnership

Exciting news for travelers! IndiGo, India’s biggest airline, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AEGEAN, Greece’s national carrier, to launch a codeshare partnership. This deal promises better connectivity and a smoother flying experience for passengers across their networks.

The partnership lets both airlines sell seats on each other’s flights. For AEGEAN, it means stronger links to India and South Asia. IndiGo passengers, meanwhile, get more options on AEGEAN’s wide domestic and European routes. Of course, this all depends on getting the green light from regulators.

IndiGo is already gearing up for direct flights to Athens from early January 2026, with six weekly services. AEGEAN plans to start flights to India by March 2026, kicking off with five weekly trips to Delhi and three to Mumbai.

Thanks to this tie-up, AEGEAN flyers can easily reach more spots in India and South Asia—their flight code A3 will pop up on tons of IndiGo routes. In return, IndiGo’s 6E code will appear on AEGEAN’s flights from Athens International Airport, covering Greece’s domestic lines and key European destinations. It’s all about making travel between India, Greece, and South Asia super convenient.

Passengers will love the perks: book a single itinerary across both airlines, check in once for the whole trip, and enjoy other seamless benefits. More details on exact codeshare routes will come soon.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers couldn’t hide his enthusiasm. "We’re thrilled to partner with AEGEAN—it’s a big leap in our goal to connect India to the world," he said. "Now, our customers can book easy trips on a bigger network, exploring Greece’s stunning islands and other European gems. As two ancient civilizations, India and Greece are reconnecting through the skies. We’re excited to team up and boost travel demand while strengthening business links between our countries."

AEGEAN Chairman Eftichios Vassilakis echoed the excitement. "Partnering with IndiGo, one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, is a game-changer," he noted. "It expands our reach into a buzzing market like India, building a stronger bridge between Greece and the subcontinent. Mixing IndiGo’s huge Indian network with our European routes gives passengers more choices and hassle-free travel. We can’t wait to create fresh opportunities for culture, business, and tourism exchanges."

This IndiGo-AEGEAN codeshare could make international flights from India to Europe even more accessible. Keep an eye out for booking updates as these new routes roll out!
