India’s rice exporters are buzzing with excitement after Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025. Set for October 30 and 31 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the event promises to be the world’s largest gathering for the rice industry.
Goyal shared a video message highlighting agriculture as the “soul of Indian civilization,” with rice standing out as the pride of the nation’s farmers. He described BIRC 2025 as a massive platform that will unite farmers, exporters, global buyers, policymakers, and other key players under one roof. “This will showcase India’s rice diversity, quality standards, and strengthen business-to-business links,” Goyal said.
Prem Garg, National President of the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF), couldn’t hold back his enthusiasm. He praised Goyal’s words as a sign of India’s rising influence in global trade. “The minister’s recognition of India as a trusted leader in rice exports fills us with pride and ramps up our responsibility to boost international cooperation,” Garg stated.
Organized by IREF in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, the two-day conference aims to spotlight India’s strengths in rice production, innovative quality standards, and sustainable farming practices that help farmers thrive. Garg emphasized that government backing has injected new energy into the rice export community. “BIRC 2025 will connect farmers, exporters, policymakers, and buyers, focusing not just on trade but on farmer welfare and elevating India’s global presence,” he added. IREF pledges to make this a historic success.
India leads the world in rice production, hitting a record 145 million metric tons last year and overtaking China. The country now dominates over 40% of the global rice trade, shipping to 172 nations and playing a vital role in worldwide food security. With events like BIRC 2025, India’s rice sector looks set to grow even stronger.
