KARAM Safety, a top global provider of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection gear, is doubling down on its fight against child labor in supply chains. The company joined a key conference in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, focused on wiping out child labor in the state by 2027. Organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce, the event highlighted bold steps toward a child-labor-free India.

India faces a tough challenge with about 10.1 million kids stuck in child labor, and more than 40,000 children rescued just in 2024-25. Uttar Pradesh is one of the hardest-hit areas, so the government aims to end it all by 2027. KARAM Safety stepped up, sharing how they keep ethical practices at the heart of their work.

Rajesh Nigam, the company’s President of Technical Operations, told the crowd: “Childhood should be about learning, exploring, and growing—not hard labor. At KARAM, we live by that. We’ve built our business on fair hiring, and we go further by pushing for education and opportunities for kids everywhere. Stopping child labor isn’t just a rule to follow; it’s about safeguarding our country’s future. Every business needs to join in, and we’re leading by example to build a world where kids can grow with hope and respect.”

Kavita Nigam, the Chief Human Resources Officer, added: “Our duty doesn’t stop at our factory doors. As HR leaders, we make sure our supply chains are ethical and safe for adults. Fighting child labor protects the most vulnerable and creates a stronger, fairer business. We’re teaming up with businesses, government, and communities to make real change and give every child a chance at a proper childhood.”

For over 27 years, KARAM Safety has never employed any children in its operations, sticking firmly to ethical standards that prioritize a safe, dignified life for kids. The company believes every child deserves that protection.

KARAM takes its efforts outside the workplace too. Through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, they fund schooling for underprivileged children, supply books and study tools, and help open doors to brighter futures. These initiatives strengthen the push for a society free from child labor, laying a solid groundwork for tomorrow’s generations.

KARAM Safety stands out as a global leader in occupational safety, offering more than 3,850 certified products that meet national and international standards. They ship safety solutions to over 140 countries and employ a dedicated team of 4,500 experts who design, test, and perfect PPE, fall protection, and fixed-line systems. As a responsible brand, KARAM focuses on empowering people, supporting communities, and caring for the environment.
