Get ready for an exciting showdown in women’s golf! The Hero Women’s Indian Open 2025 is all set to tee off from October 9 to 12 at the stunning DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram. This year’s edition brings big news: the tournament purse jumps 25% to $500,000, up from $400,000 last time. The winner? They’ll pocket a cool $75,000. It’s a massive boost for women’s golf in India and a key event on the Ladies European Tour (LET) calendar.
Leading India’s charge is Diksha Dagar, one of our top women golfers and a regular contender in recent Women’s Indian Open tournaments. She’s ready to shine alongside other Indian stars like Amandeep Drall, who grabbed runner-up spot in 2022. Diksha herself finished third in 2023, showing the growing strength of Indian players on the global stage.
Early entries are already pouring in, packed with talent. Defending champion Liz Young from England is back to defend her title, while rookie sensation Mimi Rhodes, the current 2025 LET Order of Merit leader, promises to steal the show. You’ll also see past LET winners like Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini (2024 champ) and Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab (2023). Other recent victors, including England’s Alice Hewson, Singapore’s Shannon Tan, Darcey Hall, and Sara Kouskova, have confirmed their spots. Entries are still open, so expect more big names to join before the deadline.
This tournament isn’t just about international stars—nearly all of India’s top women golfers will compete, facing tough challenges from global pros. Over half a dozen Indian players now tour regularly on the LET, thanks to the strong ties between the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) and the tour. Since kicking off in 2007, the Women’s Indian Open has been a game-changer, spotlighting India’s rising female golfers. Aditi Ashok made history as the only Indian winner back in 2016, but contenders like Diksha and Amandeep keep pushing the boundaries.
Kavita Singh, president of the WGAI, couldn’t hide her excitement. “I’m thrilled to bring the 17th Hero Women’s Indian Open back to DLF Golf & Country Club, a venue that’s all about golfing excellence,” she said. “Our partnership with the LET keeps getting stronger, helping women’s golf in India grow by leaps and bounds.”
LET CEO Alexandra Armas echoed the enthusiasm: “The Hero Women’s Indian Open is a highlight on our schedule, coming at a crucial time for players chasing Order of Merit rankings. We love returning to this world-class course at DLF G&CC. Our long partnership with WGAI inspires so many young female golfers in India, and we’re pumped for another epic event.”
The DLF Golf and Country Club, often called the “Home of Indian women’s golf,” hosts the tournament for the 15th time. This award-winning course, designed with input from legend Gary Player, is in top shape and ranks among India’s best in South Asia. Practice rounds start October 7 and 8, with the main action running through October 12.
As South Asia’s premier women’s golf event, the Women’s Indian Open owes much to the Women’s Pro Golf Tour. This domestic circuit builds talent and preps players for international battles, making the WIO the perfect season finale. If you’re into women’s golf tournaments, LET events, or Indian sports stars, this one’s not to miss—mark your calendars for some thrilling action!
