MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh to visit Uganda on Oct 15 for Non-Aligned Movement meet

India’s foreign‑minister‑in‑charge, Kirti Vardhan Singh, will head a delegation to the 19th Mid‑Term Ministerial of the Non‑Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda, from 15‑16 October. The announcement came on Monday from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Before the ministerial, a Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) will run on 13‑14 October. India will be represented at that forum by Sibi George, Secretary (West).

Uganda is the NAM Chair for 2024‑2026, and this year’s ministerial carries the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.” India, a founding member of NAM, says its participation reaffirms a long‑standing commitment to the movement’s values and principles.

During the session, Modi Vardhan Singh is expected to meet Uganda’s leaders and NAM member‑state officials. The meeting follows a long history in which NAM has offered a platform for 121 developing countries, helping many nations win independence from colonial rule and later contribute to global peace and security.

The MEA highlights that India continues to give high priority to NAM. Over the years, the country has actively participated in NAM summits and other high‑level meetings, strengthening solidarity and cooperation among member states.
