Mother Dairy Slashes Prices on Milk, Dairy Products, and Safal Items After GST Cut

Mother Dairy is bringing good news for dairy lovers and shoppers across India. The popular brand has announced price reductions on its milk, dairy products, and processed foods, thanks to the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) cuts. Starting September 22, 2024, these lower prices will pass on the full tax benefits directly to customers, making everyday essentials more affordable.

As a key player under the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Mother Dairy ensures its entire range now falls under the nil or lowest 5% GST slab. This move aligns with the government’s push to ease costs on essential items like dairy products and processed foods.

Let’s break down some of the exciting price drops effective from September 22:

  • UHT Milk (1 litre): Down from Rs 77 to Rs 75 – perfect for those long-lasting milk packs.
  • Milkshakes (180 ml): Now Rs 28 instead of Rs 30, a sweet treat at a better price.
  • Paneer (200 gm): Reduced to Rs 92 from Rs 95, great for your next curry.
  • Butter (100 gm): Drops to Rs 58 from Rs 62 – butter up your breakfast without breaking the bank.
  • Cow Ghee Jar (1 litre): A big cut from Rs 750 to Rs 720, ideal for traditional cooking.
  • Ice Creams: Choco Vanilla Cone (100 ml) now Rs 25 (was Rs 30), and Strawberry Crush Tub (1 litre) at Rs 300 (down from Rs 330). Time to cool off with these favorites!

For Mother Dairy’s Safal line of frozen and processed products, GST has dropped uniformly from 12% to 5% on items like snacks, jams, pickles, coconut water, and tomato puree. Here’s how prices are changing:

  • Frozen French Fries (400 gm): Rs 95 from Rs 100.
  • Frozen Aloo Tikki (400 gm): Now Rs 85, down from Rs 90.
  • Frozen Nuggets (300 gm): Reduced to Rs 105 from Rs 110.
  • Lime Pickle (400 gm): Rs 120 instead of Rs 130.
  • Coconut Water (200 ml): Drops to Rs 50 from Rs 55.
  • Mixed Fruit Jam (500 gm): Now Rs 165, was Rs 180.

Manish Bandlish, Managing Director of Mother Dairy, shared his thoughts on this GST reduction in dairy and processed foods. "This is a positive step that will boost consumption and encourage more people to choose safe, high-quality packaged products," he said. "We’re passing on 100% of the tax savings to our customers starting September 22, 2024, in line with the reform’s spirit."

Bandlish added that the entire Mother Dairy portfolio now enjoys nil or 5% GST. He believes this will help everyone in the chain – from farmers gaining from higher demand (thanks to GST cuts on farm equipment too) to consumers enjoying cheaper access to quality dairy and processed foods.

One key point: Everyday pouch milk like full cream, toned, or cow milk has always been GST-exempt, so its prices stay the same with no changes to MRP.

This price cut on Mother Dairy products comes at a great time for households watching their budgets. With GST benefits on dairy items flowing straight to you, stocking up on milk, paneer, ice creams, and Safal frozen foods just got easier. Keep an eye out for these updates in stores near you!
