New Delhi, Oct 10 – The National e‑Governance Division (NeGD) has signed a new partnership with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd, the creators of Bharat Taxi, to boost the ride‑hailing service with strong digital support. The deal puts NeGD in charge of advising Bharat Taxi on key tech areas such as platform integration, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance and overall governance.
Under the agreement, the Digital India Corporation will work closely with Bharat Taxi, a cooperative‑driven, citizen‑first ride‑hailing platform that plans a national launch in December 2025. NeGD will help the company build a solid technical backbone, enabling the app to sync smoothly with India’s major digital services – DigiLocker, UMANG and API Setu. This integration will let users verify their identity and use services with one click, improving the overall travel experience.
The partnership also covers security and data protection. NeGD will guide Bharat Taxi on how to meet the Centre’s strict cybersecurity standards and data‑protection rules, ensuring the platform’s infrastructure remains secure and trustworthy. The division will pay extra attention to user‑interface design and multilingual support, making the app easy to use across India’s many languages.
“This partnership shows government commitment to creating a secure, interoperable and inclusive digital marketplace,” the Ministry of Electronics and IT said. The aim is a transparent, cooperative‑run mobility hub that empowers citizens and unlocks new growth in India’s transportation sector.
In addition to this MoU, NeGD and National E‑Governance Services Limited (NeSL) already joined forces earlier in the week. Their new work focuses on digital document management for businesses and government bodies, a step toward a more efficient, paper‑less public service system.
Together, these moves reinforce the government’s push toward a smarter, safer digital ecosystem that serves everyday users and businesses throughout India.
