Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch ‘SEMICON India 2025’ today in New Delhi, marking a big step towards making India a global hub for semiconductors. The event is set to take place at Yashobhoomi and will run from September 2 to 4.
This three-day conference aims to boost India’s semiconductor industry by focusing on building a strong, resilient, and sustainable ecosystem. Industry leaders, government officials, researchers, and companies from around the world will come together to share ideas and showcase innovations.
During SEMICON India 2025, attendees will hear about progress in India’s Semicon India Programme, upcoming projects like new fabs (semiconductor manufacturing plants), advanced packaging, and smart manufacturing. There will also be discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), investment opportunities, infrastructure readiness, and how state governments are supporting the industry.
More than 350 companies from 33 countries will participate in this major event, making it one of the largest platforms for semiconductor and electronics industries in South Asia. The event is organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), along with SEMI, a global industry association.
This event is a huge milestone for India, which has made rapid progress in just four years since launching the India Semiconductor Mission in 2021. The government has also announced a Rs 76,000 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to attract investment and promote local manufacturing, with about Rs 65,000 crore already committed.
SEMICON India 2025 will showcase India’s growing role in the global semiconductor industry with nearly 350 exhibitors, over 15,000 visitors expected, and participation from nine Indian states. The event includes six country roundtables, four country pavilions, and features five official projects in areas like high-volume fabs, advanced packaging, and research support.
Under the theme “Building the Next Semiconductor Powerhouse,” the conference will explore key trends and innovations in fabs, AI, supply chain management, sustainability, workforce training, design, and startups. This event highlights India’s impressive progress and its plans to become a major player in the global semiconductor supply chain.
Since its first edition in 2022 in Bengaluru, SEMICON India has grown rapidly, with previous events held in Gandhinagar (2023) and Greater Noida (2024). The upcoming 2025 edition promises to be even bigger, showcasing India’s bright future in semiconductors and electronics.
