Jaipur – Rajasthan’s power companies are stepping up to meet promises of reliable, affordable electricity for every home. Ahead of Diwali 2025, the state’s distribution companies (discoms) ran a special drive that added more than 37,000 new domestic connections across Rajasthan.
The campaign cleared backlogs, sped up paperwork, and supplied power‑line materials so that new homes could get electricity quickly. In Jaipur alone, more than 17,000 connections were opened, while Ajmer and Jodhpur added 15,000 and 4,500 households, respectively. The result is faster access to power for families across the state.
To keep services transparent and customer‑friendly, Jaipur Discom launched a “Star Rating” feedback system. When a new connection becomes active, the consumer receives an SMS link to download the free “Bijli Mitra” mobile app. Using the app, the user enters the power‑line “K” number and rates their experience from one to five stars. The ratings are reviewed every month at the circle and subdivision levels, and the performance of field engineers is tracked against the scores.
Besides the app, the discom has kept its helpline 181 open for customers to share feedback. From April 1 to mid‑August, the line handled 75,746 calls from recent connectees, gathering insights that help refine procedures and improve service quality.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said the initiative reflects Rajasthan’s commitment to a customer‑centric, accountable electricity sector. With quick connections and real‑time feedback, the state aims to keep power reliable and affordable for every household.
