Royal Orchid Hotels teams up with Paisa4Plates, a charity drive led by Aryaveer Baljee, the Youth MP for Hampshire, to help fight hunger in India. The partnership kicks off at ICONIQA Mumbai, the group’s trendy upscale lifestyle hotel, and will roll out to all Royal Orchid properties nationwide. Guests can now opt in to a simple voluntary donation—0.5% of their bill—to support local efforts feeding the homeless, providing mid-day meals for schoolchildren, and donating food to those in need.
This fresh approach draws inspiration from the successful Pounds4Plates campaign in London. There, restaurants added an optional 0.25% service charge to bills, raising funds for food charities. Aryaveer Baljee, who has strong Indian roots, adapted it for India as Paisa4Plates to spark empathy and tackle pressing issues like homelessness and child hunger.
The initiative covers Royal Orchid’s impressive network of more than 120 hotels across India, including popular brands like Regenta, Regenta Place, Royal Orchid, and the new ICONIQA. At each spot, guests pick a cause tied to local charities. Hotels will share details through table tents and other clear notices, making it easy and transparent to join in.
“We’re excited to team up with Paisa4Plates and bring this to our guests in India,” said Shibani Malhotra, General Manager at ICONIQA Mumbai. “It fits right into our goal of making travel matter. We want every stay to spark real change in communities.”
Aryaveer Baljee shared his passion for the project: “Hospitality goes beyond great service—it’s about connecting people and lifting up communities. After Pounds4Plates took off in the UK, I knew I had to bring something similar to India, where the challenges run deep. Working with ICONIQA and Royal Orchid Hotels, which are growing strong here, lets us reach more people and truly help the hungry and homeless.”
Paisa4Plates keeps things simple and sustainable for hotels, building goodwill while encouraging guest involvement. The full launch hits Royal Orchid’s Indian locations in late 2025, with big plans to partner with local NGOs and food banks for wider impact.
As part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Royal Orchid stays true to its roots in community support and sustainability. Past efforts include fighting human trafficking and cutting environmental harm. This Paisa4Plates tie-up shows their ongoing push to do good while doing business.
