BRS will work harder, says KTR after bypoll defeat

In Hyderabad, the BRS working‑president K. T. Rama Rao said the party is not giving up after losing the Jubilee Hills byelection. “It’s not about never falling, it’s about getting back up,” he wrote on X. He thanked supporters and pledged to fight harder to return to power.

The Congress party won the seat, with Naveen Yadav beating BRS’s Maganti Sunitha by nearly 25,000 votes. Rama Rao told reporters in Telangana Bhavan that the loss won’t deter the BRS. “We’ll keep working as the main opposition,” he said. “We’ll stay with the people, for the people, and fight until KCR is Chief Minister again.”

He highlighted that over the past two years the BRS has focused on people’s issues, and that the byelection has renewed enthusiasm and strength in the party. “Only the BRS is the real alternative,” he added. Rama Rao also noted that experts had expected a BRS win, and that earlier byelections from 2014 to 2023 saw the Congress hold none.

The leader outlined how BRS has exposed government failures, pushed for the implementation of the six guarantees, and campaigned on secular and inclusive politics. He mentioned that the party’s pressure helped the state government review policy, and that a vacancy for minority representation in the cabinet led to Mohammed Azharuddin’s inclusion.

Despite the setback, KTR remains optimistic. He said the BRS will continue to highlight its decade of development—spending Rs 5,300 crore on the constituency—and keep working until Telangana returns under KCR’s leadership.
