Hyderabad, Nov 18 – Telangana’s Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy pushed for strong economic growth and asked the Centre to help finish key projects that could transform the city into a major global hub.
During a meeting in Hyderabad, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar welcomed the state leader as he outlined plans for big infrastructure upgrades. Reddy highlighted several projects still waiting for approval, including:
- Musi Rejuvenation – Reviving the Musi River that runs through Hyderabad.
- Metro Rail Phase 2 – Extending the city’s rapid‑transit network.
- Godavari Water Diversion – Bringing water from the Godavari River into the state.
- Regional Ring Road – Building a new outer bypass to ease traffic.
The CM urged the centre to grant permissions right away and to provide financial and policy support for these projects.
Reddy also told Khattar that Telangana is putting a strong push behind zero‑carbon initiatives. Plans include launching 3,000 electric buses in Hyderabad next year and promoting EV vehicles across the state.
Other points on the agenda were the Future City project, attracting global investors to a new smart‑city development, and a proposed dry port that could boost trade and the state economy.
“We’re not just up against other Indian states,” Reddy said. “We’re aiming to compete with global cities like Singapore, Tokyo, and New York. That will need close cooperation from the Central government.”
The state will launch its long‑term plan, the Telangana Rising Vision Document 2047, on December 9. In that plan, the CM says Telangana aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, potentially contributing 10 % of India’s GDP. He also linked the goal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a $30 trillion Indian economy by 2047.
