US Trade Advisor Peter Navarro Slams Elon Musk’s X and India’s Russian Oil Buys
Hey folks, things just got spicy in the world of international trade and social media. On Monday, Donald Trump’s trade advisor Peter Navarro fired off a strong criticism against Elon Musk’s platform X and took a dig at India for purchasing Russian oil. He even called those oil deals "blood money" – pretty intense stuff!
Navarro didn’t hold back in his social media post. He dropped an expletive and pointed out that India wasn’t snapping up massive amounts of Russian oil before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. "Fact: India didn’t buy Russian oil in large quantities before Russia invaded Ukraine. It’s blood money and people are dying," he wrote. This all stems from a fiery back-and-forth between Navarro and Musk right on X.
It all kicked off when Navarro accused India of buying Russian oil just "purely to profit." He slammed the Indian government’s position, urging them to "Stop killing Ukrainians. Stop taking American jobs." He also ripped into Musk for letting what he called "crap notes" stay on the platform. You see, Navarro’s comments got flagged by X’s Community Notes feature, which labeled them as misleading.
Musk hit back quickly, defending his platform. "On this platform, the people decide the narrative… You hear all sides of an argument. Community Notes corrects everyone, no exceptions. Notes data & code is public source. Grok provides further fact-checking," he replied. Musk’s Grok, by the way, is his AI tool that’s all about double-checking facts.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs wasn’t having any of it. They flat-out dismissed Navarro’s claims as "inaccurate and misleading statements." This isn’t the first time Navarro has questioned India’s foreign policy moves. Earlier, he criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meetings with Russian and Chinese leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin. "India needs to be with us, not Russia," he said at the time.
On a brighter note, US President Donald Trump has always spoken highly of the India-US partnership. He calls it a "very special relationship." Sure, he once joked about "losing" India to China, but he quickly added, "I’ll always be friends" with PM Modi. Modi echoed that warmth, saying he fully appreciates and reciprocates Trump’s sentiments.
As tensions simmer over Russian oil imports and global alliances, it’s clear the India-US ties remain strong despite the drama. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story!
