Big GST Cut on Two-Wheelers: Yamaha and Others Slash Prices for Festive Buyers
Hey folks, if you’re dreaming of a new bike or scooter this festive season, we’ve got great news! Yamaha Motor India just announced it will pass on the full benefits of the latest GST rate cut to customers starting September 22. This means lower prices on popular two-wheeler models, making them more pocket-friendly right before Diwali.
The GST Council made waves in its 56th meeting by slashing the tax rate on internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheelers from 28% to 18%. This smart move aims to boost demand in the two-wheeler market, especially with festivals around the corner. Yamaha isn’t alone—big names like TVS, Bajaj Auto, and Royal Enfield have already jumped on board, promising to share the complete GST cut benefits with buyers.
For Yamaha fans, models like the R15, MT15, FZ series, Aerox 155, RayZR, and Fascino will see price drops of up to Rs 17,500. Yamaha’s Chairman Itaru Otani shared his excitement, thanking the government for this "timely reduction" and adding that the company is thrilled to make these savings directly available to customers. "We’re committed to keeping two-wheelers affordable," he said.
TVS Motor Company is also rolling out the changes from September 22. Their hit motorcycles—think Apache, Ronin, Raider, and Sport—along with scooters like Ntorq, Jupiter, and Zest, will get cheaper thanks to the GST two-wheeler rate cut. But heads up: electric vehicles such as iQube, Orbiter, and TVS X won’t see any price changes, as EV GST rates stay the same at 5%.
Bajaj Auto is going all out too, with two-wheeler prices dropping by up to Rs 20,000 and three-wheelers becoming affordable by up to Rs 24,000. All Bajaj and KTM models will update to the new pricing once the GST reforms take effect. This could make everything from commuter bikes to adventure rides more accessible.
Royal Enfield has a mixed bag for its fans. Smaller bikes under 350cc, including the Classic 350, Bullet 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, and Goan Classic 350, will benefit from the lower GST on two-wheelers and get cheaper. However, larger models like the Himalayan 450, Guerrilla 450, Scram 440, and the 650cc range might cost a bit more, as they fall under a higher GST slab in the new system.
Industry experts are buzzing about this. They say these GST cut-driven price reductions will spark a revival in the two-wheeler segment, drawing in first-time buyers and revving up sales during the festive rush. With motorcycles and scooters now more affordable, it’s the perfect time to hit the showrooms. Keep an eye on your favorite brand’s website for exact new prices!
