Rajasthan is gearing up for a big boost in rail travel with the launch of a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Bikaner to Delhi Cantt. This semi-high-speed train kicks off its maiden run on Thursday, but it’ll be invite-only for guests at first.
Starting Sunday, September 28, everyday passengers can hop on, and bookings are already open. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train virtually from Banswara, while Union Minister and Bikaner MP Arjun Ram Meghwal hosts the local event with top railway officials and MLAs from Bikaner East and West.
The inaugural trip leaves Bikaner at 1:30 p.m. and stops at six stations: Sridungargarh, Ratangarh, Churu (for five minutes), Loharu, and Mahendragarh (two minutes each). From then on, the train runs daily on this Bikaner-Delhi route.
Catch it departing Bikaner at 5:40 a.m. to arrive in Delhi Cantt by 11:55 a.m. The return journey starts from Delhi Cantt at 6:45 p.m., pulling into Bikaner at 8:05 p.m. It offers 400 chair car seats and 40 executive chair car spots for a quicker, comfier ride between Rajasthan and the capital.
A fun twist: The original saffron-colored Vande Bharat rake headed to Jodhpur instead, so a sleek white one from there takes its place on this permanent Bikaner-Delhi Cantt service.
This marks Rajasthan’s fifth Vande Bharat Express, ramping up connectivity within the state and to Delhi. Railway officials highlight how it slashes travel time and makes life easier for commuters and long-haul travelers alike.
