‘Viksit Bharat Run’ in Guyana endorses sustainability, global peace

Indians around the world laced up their running shoes to join the Viksit Bharat Run, a vibrant event that highlights service to the nation and pushes for sustainability, environmental conservation, and global peace. This run ties into Seva Parv, a two-week celebration of selfless service from September 17 to October 2. It honors Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday and Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, the Father of the Nation.

In Georgetown, Guyana, the Indian High Commission teamed up with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre to host the run. They worked alongside the Guyanese government, sports federations, and local community groups. Enthusiastic runners from the Indian diaspora and beyond took part, spreading the spirit of national service and a commitment to a greener, more peaceful world.

Over in Port Louis, Mauritius, the Indian High Commission joined forces with the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture to organize their own Viksit Bharat Run. Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool served as the chief guest. High Commissioner Anurag Srivastava shared PM Modi’s bold vision for Viksit Bharat 2047—a developed India by mid-century. He urged the Indian diaspora to keep supporting India’s growth and spotlighted the strong ties between India and Mauritius in development projects.

Across the Atlantic in the United States, the Consulate General of India in Atlanta partnered with MY Bharat, an initiative from India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, to pull off the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 on a recent Sunday. Under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation,” folks from metro Atlanta gathered for fun 3-kilometer community runs. The event captured the essence of Seva Bhav, or the spirit of service, while echoing PM Modi’s dreams for Viksit Bharat 2047. It also nodded to India’s Swadeshi roots, emphasizing self-reliance, inclusivity, and caring for the environment.

One standout moment came when everyone recited the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat pledges together. Runners promised to help build India into a developed powerhouse by 2047. As the Consulate General in Atlanta noted, this united the Atlanta community with Indians everywhere, fueling shared goals of growth, innovation, and leadership on the global stage.
