The IIM Udaipur Health Center, Basic HealthCare Services (BHS), and the Salumber district Health Department held a joint workshop on 8 October 2025 to upgrade local primary‑care centres known as Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs (AAMs). Representatives from the district—including Chief Medical Officer Dr Mahendra Parmar and block medical officers—joined forces to review the project’s progress and map out next steps.
The workshop was part of the EQUIP‑HWCs research initiative, a National Health Research Priority project run by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). EQUIP‑HWCs is a three‑year study that aims to reinforce AAMs by strengthening infrastructure, staff training, governance, and service quality. The goal is to make these primary‑care hubs fully functional and boost community use of their 12 comprehensive services.
During the first session, IIM Udaipur researchers presented findings from a six‑month baseline survey. They highlighted how many of the 12 health services are currently offered at AAMs and how well the community knows and uses them.
In the second session, district and block officials, BHS staff, and the IIM Udaipur team collaborated to create a prioritized action plan. The plan, set to roll out over the next four to five months, outlines concrete steps to improve the AAMs. The district collector of Salumber will oversee implementation starting next month.
The event underscores IIM Udaipur’s growing role in health‑care research and its commitment to delivering practical solutions for rural India’s primary‑care needs.
