India’s World Food India 2025 event kicked off its second day with big wins for the country’s goal of becoming a global food powerhouse. Held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the summit drew crowds eager to boost the food processing sector through investments and teamwork.

In the first two days, companies inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) totaling more than Rs 1 lakh crore. On Day 2 alone, 21 firms signed deals worth over Rs 25,000 crore, adding serious momentum to the event’s investment drive.

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) highlighted how these pacts position India as a hotspot for food processing investments. More than 25 knowledge sessions over the two days brought together global regulators, policymakers, startups, and industry bigwigs. Talks zeroed in on hot topics like sustainability, cutting-edge technology, international partnerships, and fresh investment chances in the food processing industry.

States such as Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Jharkhand, and Bihar hosted special sessions, alongside spotlights from countries including New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan, and Russia. India’s central ministries—like Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, AYUSH, APEDA, and even the World Bank—jumped in with their own thematic discussions.

MoFPI led 13 focused sessions built around five key pillars for this year’s event. They covered everything from pet food and nutraceuticals to speciality foods, alcoholic beverages, and plant-based options—showing off India’s diverse food innovations.

Beyond the deals, delegations from Russia and Portugal held bilateral meetings to ramp up government ties in agriculture and food processing.

Priyanka Gill, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of HiWiPay, praised the summit’s high standards. “It matches international levels with its huge scale and top-notch participants,” she said. She noted strong showings from global brands, Indian states, the Spices Board, and country pavilions. “This is a smart move by the government to put India on the world stage, highlighting thousands of our unique, niche products.”

Yashika Singh, PepsiCo India’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Head of Sustainability, shared that it’s their third year at the event. “We’re doubling down on our ties with farmers,” she added, emphasizing sustainable growth in the food sector.

Running alongside the main summit are two powerhouse events: the 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit, led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the 24th India International Seafood Show, put on by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI). These gatherings push for worldwide regulatory harmony and shine a light on India’s booming seafood exports.

Overall, World Food India 2025 cements India’s role as an open, investment-friendly hub. It invites global players to team up on food processing innovations, share tech and knowledge, and join India’s shift from basic food security to advanced nutrition security.
