Young changemaker Yeshaya is making waves in public health with her new comic book, Cervichampions. This vibrant project aims to educate adolescent girls about preventing cervical cancer through early vaccination and key health tips. Yeshaya handled everything herself—from writing and concept to illustrations—turning a serious topic into an fun, relatable story.
The comic debuted at the 13th Delhi Literature Festival in 2025. Member of Parliament Sushri Bansuri Swaraj launched it and presented Yeshaya with the Young Writers Award for her creative push on cervical cancer awareness.
Cervichampions quickly caught national attention. MP Mithlesh Kumar from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, jumped in by sharing copies with over 13,000 students across schools in his area. He wants young girls to get this vital info in a way that’s easy and engaging.
In Maharashtra, MLA Sameer Meghe took it further. Through the Meghe Group of Schools, he spread the comic to 20 campuses, reaching more than 20,000 students. This effort boosts messages on HPV vaccination and early prevention right in classrooms.
Yeshaya’s work doesn’t stop at the page. She teamed up with Delhi Police and SHO Rajesh Sharma for a hands-on awareness camp at Gyan Kunj Public School in Jaunapur, Delhi. There, she chatted with girls about the HPV vaccine, hygiene, and staying healthy. She handed out copies in Hindi and English, and donated extras to the school library for everyone to read.
“I wanted to create something that speaks directly to young girls—visual, relatable, and educational,” Yeshaya said. “Cervical cancer is preventable, yet so many are unaware. With Cervichampions, I hope to empower girls with the knowledge they deserve.”
Want to check it out? The comic is free online in both Hindi and English, making cervical cancer prevention info accessible to more people.
As talks about HPV vaccination and women’s health heat up in India, projects like Cervichampions show how young voices can spark real change from the ground up. Yeshaya’s passion proves creativity can transform lives and tackle public health challenges head-on.
