At about 4:35 p.m. on Thursday, a Port Authority bus spun off the curb on East 41st Street—between Lexington Avenue and Park Avenue—and crashed through the scaffolding outside a Midtown Manhattan building. Police said it lost control before barreling onto the sidewalk, with the front half of the bus wedged on the pedestrian zone while its rear jutted into the roadway. One person was injured and later transported to Bellevue Hospital, though officials have not released the full details of that person’s injuries. A video captured from a nearby building shows the wreck: the bus’s front clamped to the sidewalk, its rear protruding into traffic. “Yo, that s–t’s in the building!” one observer shouted over the footage. Authorities say the driver is a male in his 30s, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
