Varun Dhawan Speaks Out on Bollywood’s Entourage Costs and Film Budgets
Bollywood heartthrob Varun Dhawan recently opened up about the hot debate on actor entourage costs eating into film budgets. He shared his thoughts at the trailer launch of his upcoming movie Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in Mumbai.
The event on Monday buzzed with excitement as the lead cast and crew gathered. Varun joined Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, director Shashank Khaitan, and producer Apoorv Mehta to unveil the trailer. Fans are already loving the fun vibes from this family entertainer.
Varun stressed that actors must put producers first. "In today’s cinema world, with OTT prices and satellite deals going up and down, producers take the biggest risks," he said. "We need to go back to basics—support them so everyone wins."
As the son of director-producer David Dhawan, Varun knows the industry’s tough side. He recalled his early days when actors ignored budgets, leading to producers getting exploited. "I’ve seen horror stories from my childhood—friends losing houses over bad films," he shared. "No one should face that now. Let’s make movies as a team, with producers leading the way."
But Varun doesn’t blame actors alone for high entourage costs or budget woes. He urged producers to treat everyone like family instead of pointing fingers. "We can’t just dump the blame on stars—the bill always lands on them, sparking blind items, trolling, and drama," he explained. "Producers need to create a friendly, family-like set. If actors still demand too much, don’t cast them. Simple as that."
Co-star Maniesh Paul agreed, pointing out how the entourage issue starts with unequal treatment on set. "Problems begin when you decide who gets facilities and who doesn’t," he said. "That’s when actors feel the divide."
Director Shashank Khaitan added that Bollywood stars are getting smarter about budgets and recoveries. "Everyone knows now that films need to stay within budget for producers to break even," he noted. "No one’s stubborn anymore about extra travel or perks if the movie might flop. We focus on making the money show on screen, not off it."
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari promises laughs and romance, set to hit theaters on October 2, 2025. Varun’s honest take on Bollywood entourage costs and film production challenges has fans and insiders nodding along—could this spark real change in the industry?
