Mumbai, Nov. 18 – Adivi Sesh is on the edge of releasing his bilingual thriller Dacoit, a film that has taken the Mumbai film world by storm. The 32‑year‑old actor says the movie isn’t about juggling Hindi and Telugu; it’s about breathing the same character in two different emotional worlds.
Sesh told reporters that he never had to “work on” his Hindi diction for Dacoit. His fluency grew naturally from a multicultural upbringing and diverse media exposure. “Hindi has always come naturally to me, so diction wasn’t the challenge,” he said. “The real work was tuning into the attitude, the rhythm, and the emotional pitch that each language demands.”
He added that the Hindi version feels “gentler, more restrained,” while the Telugu version amps up physicality and louder emotional expression. For the actor‑writer, it was a matter of shifting gears with every scene, ensuring each language version sounded honest to its audience. “Even though the story stays the same, the emotional journeys are so distinct that it truly felt like we were creating two films side by side,” he said.
Sesh applied the same approach on his earlier bilingual hit Major, treating both language cuts as separate films. “Shooting bilinguals is like making two movies. Very few people go the extra mile, but I can’t settle for anything less than perfect. Every frame, every emotion must feel authentic to its audience, that’s the kind of cinematic experience I want to deliver,” he added.
Dacoit features director‑actor Anurag Kashyap, along with Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan and Kamakshi Bhaskarla. The story follows a furious convict on a revenge plot against an ex‑girlfriend who betrayed him. As he crafts a perilous plan, the tale turns into a high‑stakes drama of love, betrayal and vengeance.
Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the screenplay was co‑written by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. The film is now in post‑production and set for a pan‑India release, aimed at capturing audiences across languages.
Sesh’s rise to stardom began with hits like Dongaata, Kshanam, Ami Thumi, Goodachari, Evaru, Major and HIT: The Second Case. His next project, Dacoit, promises another compelling performance and a fresh take on bilingual filmmaking.
