In Chennai on October 27, actress Aksharaa Haasan, the youngest daughter of celebrated actor and politician Kamal Haasan, posted a touching tribute on Instagram to honor the late Bollywood comedian Satish Shah. The 74‑year‑old actor, famous for his roles in “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro” and “Main Hoon Na,” passed away in Mumbai on Saturday.
In her story, Aksharaa wrote, “Rest in peace, dearest Mr Satish Shah Ji. You will always be one of the true inspirations in comedy and performance, sir. You were a true person, honest, kind, and an amazing human being. It was a genuine honour to have met you and been inspired in person, dearest sir. Rest in peace, sir.” She added, “Thank you for showing me how to stay light‑hearted in life.”
Her heartfelt message joined many other celebrities in expressing shock and grief over the comedian’s death. Satish Shah’s last rites were held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai, on Sunday. The ceremony was attended by industry peers who paid their respects.
Indian political leaders also shared their condolences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who issued a condolence message on his official X handle, said Shah “will be remembered as a true legend of Indian entertainment.” He added that “his effortless humour and iconic performances brought laughter into countless lives.”
The loss of Satish Shah has left a void in Bollywood’s comedy scene, but his legacy continues to inspire actors and audiences alike. The tributes from families, friends, and public figures underscore his lasting impact on Indian entertainment.
