Police say that a 61‑year‑old Uber driver in Kentucky has confessed to raping a woman who drifted unconscious after a heavy evening. The driver, Clifford E. Partin, picked her up in Richmond in August because she was too intoxicated to drive home. While she was still out, he allegedly drove the vehicle to a hidden spot among bushes and sexually assaulted her.
When she finally woke up, the woman was found in a parking lot. She told authorities she just wanted to be taken home, but terrified of disclosing her address she asked Partin to drop her near her house and then fled. After seeking medical care, she reported the assault to police, who matched her story with Uber’s GPS logs. Surveillance footage also showed the car parked for about 25 minutes.
Partin agreed to a polygraph, which led to his admission. He is now charged with first‑degree rape and first‑degree sodomy of a person incapable of consent. He was booked into the Madison Co. Detention Center and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
