Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Gulbadin Naib has nothing but high praise for Team India, calling them the top cricket team in Asia and the world. Speaking from Dubai, Naib shared his admiration after sharing the dressing room with Indian stars during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“India is the best team in Asia and in the world. You get to learn a lot from these boys,” Naib told . He added that playing alongside them in IPL and facing them in international matches has been an incredible experience. Naib even suited up for the Delhi Capitals in the cash-rich IPL league, where he played two games.
But Naib knows T20 cricket keeps everyone on their toes. “We can’t say anybody is a favorite in T20 cricket—the team that plays well on the day will win. Still, if you look at the stats, India stands out as the best,” he said.
Talking about what makes T20 so thrilling, Naib highlighted how one player can turn the game around. “In T20 cricket, one player can change the course of the game, whether it’s from the top order, middle order, lower order, or even a spinner. Any player on their day can flip the script,” he explained. He called T20 “entertainment cricket,” where everyone wants to shine for their country.
This comes after Afghanistan’s recent Asia Cup match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi. Bangladesh pulled off a thrilling eight-run victory, thanks to sharp spin bowling and brilliant death overs from Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman. With this win, Bangladesh holds second place in Group B with two victories and one loss, earning four points. Sri Lanka leads with two wins from two games, while Afghanistan sits third with one win and one loss. If Afghanistan beats Sri Lanka in their final group clash, all three teams will have two wins each, and net run rate will decide who advances.
