The animated comedy The Great North has been canceled by Fox after five seasons, Variety reported on Thursday. The show first aired on Fox’s Animation Domination block in January 2021 and wrapped up its final season in September 2025.
“We’re so grateful for everything Wendy, Lizzie, Loren and the amazing cast and crew put into The Great North,” said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network. “It’s hard to say goodbye, but we’re thankful for five hilarious seasons that were part of the iconic lineup,” Thorn added.
The series was created and written by Bob Burgers and executive producers Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux‑Logelin, and writer Minty Lewis. The Molyneux sisters served as showrunners and executive producers, with Loren Bouchard—creator of Bob Burgers—also on the producing team. The Great North was produced by 20th Television Animation and animated by Bento Box Entertainment.
The show starred Nick Offerman as the single‑dad Beef Tobin, Jenny Slate as his daughter Judy, Will Forte as her brother Wolf, Paul Rust as middle brother Ham, Aparna Nancherla as the youngest, Dulce Sloan as Wolf’s wife Honeybee, Megan Mullally as Judy’s boss Alyson, and Alanis Morissette voicing herself as the daughter’s imaginary friend.
The series followed the Tobin family’s quirky adventures in Alaska, with Beef trying to keep his kids close while Judy pursues her artistic dreams beyond the family fishing boat. The show’s blend of humor and heartfelt moments made it a fan favorite on Fox, but the network has decided not to renew it beyond season five.
The cancellation marks the end of an era for long‑running fans of the show, but the legacy of The Great North will remain in its memorable characters and beloved humor.
