Actor Gautham Karthik tells fans: I’m humbled by the way you celebrate me as your own family!

Gautham Ram Karthik Overwhelmed by Birthday Love After Dengue Recovery

Chennai’s young star Gautham Ram Karthik is feeling the warmth from fans and friends after his birthday bash. He just shared a heartfelt thank-you note on social media, saying he’s truly humbled by how everyone treats him like family. "I’m overwhelmed by all the love and wishes," he wrote. "Every message, call, and gesture made my day extra special. Thanks to my friends and colleagues for always being there."

Gautham didn’t forget the media either. Celebrating his birthday on Saturday, he added, "To the print and media, thank you for your kind words and constant support on my journey." But his biggest shoutout went to his fans: "Your love is the best gift ever. I’m so blessed by this positivity, and it means more than words can say. I carry this gratitude every day and look forward to the year ahead with fresh energy, thanks to your support."

This comes right after a tough time for the Tamil actor. Gautham recently battled dengue and spent about 10 days in the hospital. He bounced back strong, posting on Instagram: "From headache to fever to dengue and 10 days in the hospital… I survived with flying colors! Health comes first—stay safe, everyone." Fans had been worried, but his recovery news brought huge relief.

On the work front, Gautham Ram Karthik is diving into his next big project: the sci-fi crime thriller ROOT – Running Out of Time. Directed by Sooriyaprathap S, the film just wrapped its first shooting schedule last month. Gautham plays a gripping role as a police officer, bringing his signature depth and commitment to the screen.

Exciting news for Bollywood fans too—ROOT marks the Tamil debut of Aparshakti Khurana, known for his killer roles in Hindi hits like Dangal and Stree. Actress Bhavya Trikha leads the female role, with veteran Y Gee Mahendran in a key part. Sources say the recent shoot captured some intense sequences between Gautham and Aparshakti against Chennai’s vibrant backdrop.

Director Sooriyaprathap S, who helmed Naalaiya Iyakkunar – Season 1 and worked as associate director on Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan, is thrilled. "Wrapping the first schedule was energizing for the team," he shared. "The chemistry between Gautham and Aparshakti is electric, and Chennai adds a unique flavor. Can’t wait for more!" He calls ROOT a passion project—a grounded sci-fi thriller with emotional characters. "Gautham’s fearless approach makes him perfect for this cop role," Sooriyaprathap added.

Produced by Dhanishtan Fernando, Rajarajan Gananasambandam, Sanjai Shankar, and Shaik Mujeeb under Verus Productions, the movie promises edge-of-your-seat action. Arjun Raja handles cinematography, Vithushanan composes the music, and Miracle Michael designs the stunts.

With Gautham Ram Karthik back in action post-recovery, ROOT looks set to be a Tamil cinema highlight. Fans, keep an eye out—this sci-fi thriller could be his next big hit!
