In Agartala, Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha handed out saris to women in Ward Nos. 33 and 39 on Sunday, celebrating the spirit of Durga Puja. Speaking at the event, Saha called mothers and sisters the true embodiments of Maa Durga, highlighting their strength and importance in society.
Saha stressed that everyone deserves to live in peace, and his state government steps in to keep things calm for residents. He made it clear the administration won’t stand for anyone trying to stir up trouble or create unrest in Tripura.
With Navaratri kicking off, excitement is building as Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads to the region on Monday. He’ll offer prayers at Mata Bari in Tripura, and the spotlight falls on the newly spruced-up Tripura Sundari Temple. The state poured in about Rs. 52 crore for its beautification, and PM Modi will inaugurate it—a big moment for locals, as Saha noted.
Modi’s trip starts in Arunachal Pradesh, where he’ll lay the foundation stone for several development projects totaling over Rs. 5,100 crore in Itanagar. He’ll also speak at a public rally there. Later, he moves to Tripura for pooja, darshan, and to kick off upgrades at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari.
This temple project, part of the government’s PRASAD scheme to revive pilgrimage sites, aims to honor India’s spiritual heritage. As one of the ancient 51 Shakti Peethas in Udaipur’s Gomati district, the site gets a fresh look designed like a tortoise from above. Expect new pathways, revamped entrances and fencing, better drainage, and a three-storey building with shops, a meditation hall, guest rooms, and offices.
In Itanagar, PM Modi will also launch two major hydropower projects worth more than Rs. 3,700 crore. These efforts tap into the Northeast’s huge hydroelectric potential, pushing sustainable energy and green power generation.
Overall, these initiatives promise to supercharge tourism in Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh, spark jobs, and drive economic growth in the area.
