Fans are buzzing even more about the upcoming horror comedy “Thamma” now that its thrilling trailer has dropped. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the film promises a fresh twist on scares and laughs from the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.
The trailer kicks off with Rashmika’s character introducing Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Yakshasan, a legendary protector from folklore who’s gone off the rails and wants to become the fearsome “Thamma” himself. Ayushmann’s Alok crosses paths with Yakshasan and steps into a wild, supernatural world. Things heat up with some sweet romantic scenes between Alok and Rashmika’s Tadaka.
But the real fun starts when Alok turns into a vampire—complete with no heartbeat and sharp fangs. The clip then dives into his hilarious and spooky adventures as he tackles life with his new powers.
Maddock Films shared the trailer on social media, captioning it: “A forgotten legend from our folklore, #Thamma takes centre stage this Diwali 🦇 Maddock Horror Comedy Universe presents a bloody love story, produced by Dinesh Vijan & Amar Kaushik and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. In cinemas worldwide on 21st October. Trailer Out Now. Link in bio.”
The star-studded cast includes Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok, Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Yakshasan, Paresh Rawal as Ram Bajaj Goyal, and Sathyaraj as Elvis Karim Prabhakar, among others.
Ayushmann Khurrana shared his excitement with Variety.com, saying, “The fact that ‘Thamma’ is the first love story of the horror comedy universe is all the more exciting.” He added, “The promise of it being a ‘bloody’ love story is also a supremely unique and compelling pitch for today’s audience who want clutter-breaking theatrical experiences. ‘Thamma’ is that project, a total wildcard, a film that no one has seen in India. I’m really pumped to join the sets of this film and create a huge big screen experience with Dinesh and his entire team of fellow visionaries like Amar Kaushik, my director Aditya Sarpotdar, and the writing genius Niren Bhatt.”
Get ready for “Thamma” hitting theaters worldwide on October 21, right in time for Diwali festivities. If you’re into vampire tales mixed with romance and comedy, this Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna flick could be your next big watch.
