Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter to open ‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 51 as hosts

Get ready for some big laughs and killer music on Saturday Night Live! The legendary sketch comedy show just dropped the lineup for the first three episodes of its exciting 51st season, kicking off this fall. Global stars like Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter are stepping up as hosts, promising a mix of comedy gold and hit tunes.

First up, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny takes the reins for the season premiere on October 4. He’s no stranger to SNL— this marks his second time hosting, but it’ll be his first without also performing as the musical guest. Bad Bunny first popped up on the show with a cameo in 2020, then wowed as a musical guest in 2021 and doubled up as host and performer in 2023. He even joined Scarlett Johansson for the Season 50 finale earlier this year. Right now, he’s gearing up for a tour to promote his new album Debi Tirar Mas Fotos. Teaming up with him is Grammy winner Doja Cat, making her SNL debut as the musical guest. Her hotly anticipated fifth album, Vie, drops on September 26, so expect some fresh tracks.

The fun continues on October 11 with comedy queen Amy Poehler returning to host. A former SNL cast member from 2001 to 2008, she rose to fame anchoring Weekend Update and became a fan favorite over eight seasons. This will be her second solo hosting gig— she first hosted in 2010 with Katy Perry, then co-hosted with Tina Fey in 2015 alongside Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. Poehler’s been killing it lately with her popular new podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler. Joining her as the musical guest is Role Model, who’s hitting the stage for the first time. His track “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” just topped the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay chart.

Wrapping up the early episodes, Sabrina Carpenter pulls double duty on October 18, hosting and performing as the musical guest. It’s her hosting debut, but she’s no newbie— she lit up as the musical guest for the Season 49 finale with Jake Gyllenhaal. Her latest album, Man Best Friend, shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 when it dropped on August 29, and she’s fresh off an MTV Video Music Award win.

SNL, created and executive produced by Lorne Michaels in partnership with Broadway Video, keeps delivering non-stop entertainment. With this star-studded start to Season 51, fans are buzzing— don’t miss out on the comedy sketches, celebrity surprises, and live music!
